Addendum (10/21/10): By summer, this museum, a Civic Center fixture as far back as I can remember, had been torn down. They are building a new one a few blocks away, where presumably (hopefully) the buffalo will be reinstalled.

I liked the retro feel of this tower and the way that the winglet emphasizes the trapped-on-the-plane feeling we sometimes get, like in this example in January in a 65-degree town, knowing that Kansas City is waiting for us with its below-freezing temps.

Our fourteen year-old "ten year" contract became amendable today, January 7th. Negotiations are crawling along and the company has so far offered us nothing, and so flight attendants turned out at airports across the system to show management that we are prepared to do Whatever It Takes to win overdue and well-deserved improvements.

The first class galley coffee makers, which I spent most of the day either looking at or actually using. This was Lesson #1 for me about how your eye sees things differently when you are looking for things of which to take pictures (and you're locked in a metal tube all day).

So, I'm interested to see how this evolves as the days click by, but here on Day One, my big problem is gonna be choosing which of the photos I took today to feature as The Photo of the Day. There will no doubt be days when I can't think of a thing to photograph -- hopefully on those days I might be able to return to San Diego, where subjects seem to abound.
